Meet Michele Mirisola of Dancing on the Spectrum in Boca Raton

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michele Mirisola.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Michele. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started dancing thirty years ago and has never stopped. Starting out in New York City and soon after moving to Florida, I participated in both traveling competition and performance teams. While in Florida I immediately auditioned for the areas most elite competition troupe where I sharpened my skills for many years. During these years I was privileged enough to study under world-renowned dance instructor Mr. Charles Russell of The Joffery Ballet. My love of dance and passion lead to performing in events, recitals, and parades all over the country.

While working with master teachers across the country I developed a passion to educate others in the art I loved so much. Studying in New York City with Dance Educators of America, I received my license to teach. Now I having over 15 years experience teaching ballet, jazz, creative movement, tap, and hip-hop to children of all ages and abilities. Having developed a unique, fun yet disciplined approach to dance, each class is better than the last!

Having cousins living with Autism and Downs Syndrome I wanted to start a studio that would allow children affected with all disabilities to develop a love for dance and provide an avenue for dance to enhance their lives in a safe non-judgmental atmosphere.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Of course, there are always obstacles, nothing worth doing is easy! Parents can be difficult and the children at times a handful, but every day I love my job. Watching these children light up when they perform makes any struggles worth it. Everyone can benefit through self-expression and dance provides the best outlet!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Dancing on the Spectrum – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Founded in 2016 in Partnership with We Rock the Spectrum Kids Gym, Dancing on the Spectrum dance studio is where all Children can come and enjoy the benefits of dance! A true love of music and movement is something all children should benefit from, whether or not they have a disability!

We specialize in exposing children ages 3 through 13 to all styles of dance and allowing them to develop at their own pace and build confidence every step of the way. Twice a year we hold recitals where the children can strut their stuff and parents can see how far they have come.

We offer classes for all children both typical and those living with disabilities to ensure dance is available to everyone! The benefits amaze me every day, and I couldn’t be prouder of each and every one of them. While seeing your child smile, laugh, and learn is our priority, personal development is the goal.

Whether moving to today’s hottest dance music, or learning classical dance styles and building the foundation for future dance studies, we are your studio! We pride ourselves on the ability to adapt our program to meet your child’s individual goals and overcome their obstacles.
